Using handmade soap

What is your first thought on solid soap? Let me guess. Dry and tight skin? If so then we're talking about commercial soaps. Did you know that there are 2 types of soap? Commercial ones and, my favorite, handmade soaps.

Handmade soaps may have a higher price, but there is a very good reason for this. They provide a lot of benefits for your health. Commercial soaps contain artificial ingredients and undergo a variety of chemical processes. The result? Detergent in nice packaging. And how frustrating it is not to be able to understand what it says on the label, right? This is already the first warning sign.

Fortunately, handmade, home-made soaps are quite the opposite. They are loaded with natural source ingredients such as nourishing butters and oils and ingredients that come directly from the earth such as botanicals, clay, salts, minerals, essential oils, etc.

And do you know what the best ingredient is? Glycerin! Glycerin is a natural humectant that attracts moisture from the environment deep into the skin. With handmade soaps, glycerin is not taken out and is in high volume it makes them naturally moisturizing and great for the skin.

The soap making process itself is a saponification process that occurs when fats and oils are mixed with lye (sodium hydroxide). The end result is a natural soap, gently product, completely safe for the skin.

The craft of making homemade soap was known by our grandparents. When making homemade soap, quality is important, and that handicraft has been far advanced since our grandmothers' time. Now, this is an art that takes years to perfect. Small batches are made with a lot of love, passion and great care. In today's homemade soaps you can find a variety of oils and nutritious oils, liquids such as milk, colorants (today's soapmakers are great artists), fragrances, etc. Most importantly, apart from your health, such soaps are mostly vegan, locally grown and cruelty-free.

Consider also the natural pH, which ranges from 9-10 in handmade soaps. Such pH needs our skin, which is approximately pH 5.5, to fight viruses or bacteria naturally. The skin is our largest organ, so choose carefully what to use for nourishment and protection.
